This week Spiritual Socialites interviewed Tara Gangadharan, Founder of Thara Sacra. Thara Sacra handcrafts small-batch skincare products that enhance physical and energetic beauty. They believe beauty radiates from the inside out.
What inspired you to start your company?
The idea had always been lingering in the back of my head. I have made my own skincare products for years and was always urged by friends and family to sell them. In late 2014 I began a journey with my health that kept me in crisis for about 2 ½ years. What started as an injury to my tailbone morphed into a full on assault to my body via a greatly confused immune system. My pain levels were high and modern medicine could not touch it. All I could do was work on my mind and my energy. I worked with meditation, essential oils, and natural remedies to manage my pain and keep my mind straight. When I came out on the other side I realized the importance of tending to the energetic roots of our health and wellness. It was from there that Thara Sacra was born.
What is your mission?
We believe beauty radiates from the inside. Our products are designed to help bring that to light.
What is the benefit of using essential oils?
Essential oils are obtained from natural materials by distillation or expression (cold pressing). They are concentrated powerhouses that contain the pure essence of the plant or natural material. Essential oils can have therapeutic benefits at the emotional, energetic, and physical levels. At Thara Sacra we are mainly focused on the benefits they can bring to the emotional and energetic levels.
What part does yoga and meditation play in your business?
They go hand in hand. Yoga and meditation (Dhyana) in the traditional sense are ultimately about seeking liberation from attachment to the material world. The formulas I create are based around this principle. To me, true beauty is when you are completely liberated from all that holds you back and are able to be completely you. It’s why Radiate is the signature blend of the line. Each oil in that synergy was carefully selected to help the user allow their true self to shine. It’s a great blend to use before meditation or while in Savansana. The response to that blend was so great I decided to extend the line to include blends for each chakra, or energy center, within the body. I’m also extending the line further by offering more than just essential oil blends. I have a massage oil and bath soak launching in the coming months and I’ve been working on perfecting a meditation balm that has a dual purpose.
What has given you the confidence to follow your dreams?
Recognizing my talents and gifts by trusting they are worthy of being shared. I did not originally have confidence in myself. It was during my health crisis that I learned where my energetic blocks were and how they were holding me back. I would spin and spin all day questioning myself and my intuition. I cannot tell you how many times I have created a formula and known it was the right one to then turn around and create 3 or 4 more versions only to have everyone pick the first blend in sample trials. Being honest about that and recognizing the where and why of my energetic blocks has helped me to narrow down that window of second guessing time. The more times I go with that first instinct out the gate, the more adept I become at trusting myself.
What inspires you?
So much inspires me. If I had to pick one thing I would say transformation. Watching someone come from a place of fear and doubt, work through all of that, and start living their life purpose makes me scream out YES to the universe.
